Stakeholders have their say in the ANIMA noise research

Roundtables are an important part of processes allowing to reach consensus

June 12, 2018

Our ANIMA partners at Manchester Metropolitan University conducted interviews with aviation noise stakeholders to understand perspectives on current approaches to aviation noise management and policy.

These interviews, led by Dr. Graeme Heyes helped us understand attitudes towards noise policy and the effectiveness of mitigation measures implemented to reduce noise exposure. They have also proved useful in disseminating the work of ANIMA, spreading the word of the project’s aims, and ensuring that noise stakeholders are listened to and included in the research.

Dr. Heyes said that “these interviews have been a fantastic opportunity to gain deep insight into the current noise management practice at European airports. Not just to understand what airports are doing, but also to identify the challenges posed and how these have been overcome. They have proved incredibly beneficial in our ability to better understand the current ‘state-of-the-art and have laid a strong foundation on which following ANIMA outcomes can be based”.
